THE “YEAR FOR PRIESTS”
In keeping with the Order's longstanding "In Solidarity With Our Priests" campaign, the Supreme Knight has called upon all Knights to actively participate in the "Year for Priests" declared by Pope Benedict XVI.
The centerpiece of the Order's program for this yearlong celebration (June 19, 2009 – June 19, 2010) is a new holy card featuring a prayer for priests. The card features an icon, written by Marek Czarnecki showing Christ in Mass vestments with a gold pelican over his heart, the ancient symbol of self-sacrifice. At the bottom of the icon is an altar prepared for Mass, and at the sides are Melchizedek, whose sacrifice of bread and wine prefigured the Eucharist, and St. John Vianney the patron of parish priests. The back of the card includes a prayer for priests.

INSURANCE NEWS Have you ever heard the expression “lazy days of summer?” While the hot weather may encourage a slower paced life, in many ways summer can be the busiest time of the year, specially for parents with school-aged children. And being busy, it’s easy to forget about such things as reviewing your life insurance coverage.
The purpose of this column is to encourage you to meet with me before the end of the summer. Whether or not you have life insurance with the Order, I’ll be happy to meet with you and make sure your coverage continues to meet your needs and goals. If you’ve had any life changes since you last bought a policy (new home, new child, new job, etc.), chances are your life insurance needs to be updated. I’ll work with you to make sure you have the coverage you need at a price you can afford.
When we meet, you’ll discover that the time we spend together will be time well-spent. Let’s get together soon. Because summer is not only busy, it’s also coming to an end.

RESPECT LIFE Dearest Brother Knights,
On behalf of the Holy Rosary Council, I am proud to stand as Pro-Life representative, and I look forward to leading, in union with Grand Knight, Ed Wendling, as well as the Ladies' Auxiliary, next year's Knights for Life contingent in the Memorial Day and Independence Day Parades.
It is our hope that under the banner and escort of the Holy Rosary Council, representatives of the many organizations we charitably support will march behind us, carrying their banners and joyfully proclaiming their support for the dignity and value of human life. We foresee Salute, Clearbrook, the Squires, St. Viator, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, degree Knights and their families, friends from the Moorings and St Joseph's Home, The Women's Center, interested supporters from our feeder parishes, as well as the Ladies' Auxiliary, all following in our train in defense of life.
We intend to be a joyful, smiling, and kind, presence in the parades. Our message will be positive and crafted in love. What a sight it will be! I know that it’s only been a few weeks since the July 4th parade, but it’s never too early to make plans for next year's events! Please assist us in any way you can, and by all means, consider joining us on what will surely be two wonderful mornings for life.
Vivat Jesus, Jim McPherrin
