In addition, let us not forget -- All of our United States Military troops that are in harm’s way.

CLEARBROOK CHRISTMAS DINNER DANCE

It's time for the annual gala Christmas celebration with our friends from the Clearbrook Center. The festivities will be held on Friday, December 4th, beginning at 6:00 PM, with dinner prepared by the outstanding chefs of the Holy Rosary Council, led by Lance Krahl. Sadly, the Dance will have to end at 9:00 but in-between time, there'll be singing; dancing to live musical entertainment provided by a master of the squeezebox, Randy Heuvelman; and, possibly, even a visit from Santa and his elves.

As we all know, The Council hosts three informal dinner dances, each year, for the developmentally disadvantaged residents and clients of Clearbrook Center. This is one way, among many, of fulfilling our mission to provide meaningful service to our community. The dinner dances also provide memorable experiences for our guests who, even though they hate for the evening to end, nevertheless leave with bright smiles on their faces and a great appreciation for what the Knights have done for them.

To make this all happen, we rely on volunteers from many sources. We Knights cook, serve, set up the hall and clean up after the event. The Ladies Auxiliary sets up the eating utensils and helps serve the food. We rely on the Boy Scouts to serve refreshments, High School and Middle School students, together with religious affiliated groups and Squires, to register the guests and serve the food, and each of the volunteers to mingle with the guests, sing with them, dance with them and insure that they all have those bright smiles on their faces when they leave. There's another outcome of these dances: we volunteers also leave with smiles on our faces as well as a sense of gladness in our hearts that is indescribable.

So, save the date: Friday, December 4th. Volunteer to help out. Call me, Al Vermiglio, at 847-537-3211 or e-mail me at, alavco@wmconnect.com, to get your name on the list. I'm asking for help from the entire Holy Rosary Council to make this dinner dance a success. We'll need about 6-8 ladies from the Auxiliary, 5-10 Scouts or Squires, 10 to 15 high school service organization students and about 10 to 12 Knight volunteers. For the other 440 plus Knights of the Council, I'll need you to say a novena for me that I don't mess this up. Thanks.

Oh, one other thing, I'll need a volunteer Knight, who can fit into John Bauer's Santa suit, to play a starring roll in thisproduction. We'll also need three short guys with pointy hats, shoes and noses to play Santa's helpers. It wouldn't hurt if they looked like Snap, Crackle and Pop either. You four guys know who you are so give me a call and volunteer.

Our Lady of the Angels Mission

Knights and their families will be meeting at the Knights of Columbus hall on Nov 7 to car pool to the mission. We will depart at 8:00am and return at 1:00pm. Volunteers will unload a semi truck load of food and packages for needy families. The packaged food items will then be distributed to 250-300 families that morning. This is an excellent service project for teens and adults of all ages. For more information please contact Ed Wendling (733) 636-3318 or ed@wendlingfamily.com.

LUCKY BUCKS

Lucky Buck tickets may still be purchased. Contact Mike McMahon for further details. Remember, we have three $50 win-ners each month. You could be our next winner!

Lucky Buck Winners for November were Jack Barrett, John Morrow, and Henry Rogers.

UNITY THROUGH CHARITY

For the Charity Committee, we're purchasing a full page ad in the booklet for the Women's Center's Auction. This year marks the Women's Center's 25th Anniversary, and we are happy to be able to provide the Center with assistance to enable them to continue to perform their good works for women that need the aid of their strength and counseling.

Vocation Raffle

The 2009 Vocational Raffle is in full swing. If you have turned in your raffle books THANK YOU! If you have not done so yet, we need your help to reach an aggressive goal. If we can sell a total of 166 books we can give three different Seminarians $500. I didn't know until I read the seminarian's letters that they pay their own medical insurance. Any help we can give them will help them in their journey to the priesthood. This is the YEAR FOR PRIESTS and a great way for Holy Rosary to honor our church and it's future.

Honor Guards & St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Assembly

The St. Elizabeth Ann Assembly #2410, under the leadership of a Faithful Navigator, was chartered by the Supreme Council on February 7, 1996 for Holy Rosary Council #4483 members. Since that time other councils have been established in the vicinity and their Sir Knights are also members of Seton Assembly. However, a few Sir Knights who have transferred into a local council maintain their mem-bership in the Assembly from which they transferred. The 4th degree Assembly of Sir Knights provide the Honor Guards for various events such as confirmations, first masses by newly ordained priests, first communion masses, Rest In His Arms services, funeral services for Sir Knights, parades . . . to name a few.

“What is the protocol for having a local Honor Guard from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Assembly”

If you are a member of a Council and the Assembly you can participate in these Honor Guard functions. When a Brother Sir Knight dies the family may request an Honor Guard for the services. This usually means the wake, but can extend to the church and cemetery services.

The Faithful Navigator is the hub around which the process turns. Initially the request is made to him (Mike Bryscan 847-821-7650/224-217-2413). He will then contact the appropriate Council Commander who will be in charge at the event. The FN will make arrange-ments to notify the other Seton Assembly members and invite them to participate . . . should they choose to do so, and advise them of the Commander in charge. Participants will then call that Commander and let him know their intention to participate. The current Com-manders are: Jack Hyneman 847-259-7121, Holy Rosary Council #4483; Ken Neilson 847-537-6039, Regina Council #4837; Mike McEvoy 847-215-8224, Our Lady of the Grove #13448; John Keane 847-398-5174, Mt. Prospect Council #6481

The Faithful Navigator, or his designate, would be in charge for "district level" events such as "Special Olympics Opening Ceremony" or Honor Guard requests from the District Master (Ray Biliskov).
