CLEARBROOK CHRISTMAS DINNER DANCE It's time for the annual gala Christmas celebration with our friends from the Clearbrook Center. The festivities will be held on Friday, December 4th, beginning at 6:00 PM, with dinner prepared by the outstanding chefs of the Holy Rosary Council, led by Lance Krahl. Sadly, the Dance will have to end at 9:00 but in-between time, there'll be singing; dancing to live musical entertainment provided by a master of the squeezebox, Randy Heuvelman; and, possibly, even a visit from Santa and his elves. As we all know, The Council hosts three informal dinner dances, each year, for the developmentally disadvantaged residents and clients of Clearbrook Center. This is one way, among many, of fulfilling our mission to provide meaningful service to our community. The dinner dances also provide memorable experiences for our guests who, even though they hate for the evening to end, nevertheless leave with bright smiles on their faces and a great appreciation for what the Knights have done for them. To make this all happen, we rely on volunteers from many sources. We Knights cook, serve, set up the hall and clean up after the event. The Ladies Auxiliary sets up the eating utensils and helps serve the food. We rely on the Boy Scouts to serve refreshments, High School and Middle School students, together with religious affiliated groups and Squires, to register the guests and serve the food, and each of the volunteers to mingle with the guests, sing with them, dance with them and insure that they all have those bright smiles on their faces when they leave. There's another outcome of these dances: we volunteers also leave with smiles on our faces as well as a sense of gladness in our hearts that is indescribable. So, save the date: Friday, December 4th. Volunteer to help out. Call me, Al Vermiglio, at 847-537-3211 or e-mail me at, alavco@wmconnect.com, to get your name on the list. I'm asking for help from the entire Holy Rosary Council to make this dinner dance a success. We'll need about 6-8 ladies from the Auxiliary, 5-10 Scouts or Squires, 10 to 15 high school service organization students and about 10 to 12 Knight volunteers. For the other 440 plus Knights of the Council, I'll need you to say a novena for me that I don't mess this up. Thanks. Oh, one other thing, I'll need a volunteer Knight, who can fit into John Bauer's Santa suit, to play a starring roll in thisproduction. We'll also need three short guys with pointy hats, shoes and noses to play Santa's helpers. It wouldn't hurt if they looked like Snap, Crackle and Pop either. You four guys know who you are so give me a call and volunteer. ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS Entertainment 2010 Coupon books are now available!! YOUR BUILDING CORPORATION NEWS Part Time Employment -- The Building Corporation is seeking replacments for retiring positions. The positions of the Set-Up Crew are vacant and any interested persons should contact Dean Sordyl at 847-394-3307. INSURANCE NEWS Sometimes it is easy to overlook the simplest of things. Take the beneficiaries on your life insurance policies. If your policy was applied for and issued several years ago, it could very well be that the person you originally selected as the beneficiary is no longer the person you would want to receive the policy proceeds. If you bought the policy when you were single, for example, you may have named your parents as beneficiaries. If you have since been married, that could be updated to reflect your spouse or your children. Most people list a primary beneficiary – that person is specifically designated as the first in priority to receive policy proceeds. We also encourage the naming of a contingent beneficiary – an alternate person designated to receive policy proceeds, usually in the event that the original beneficiary pre-deceases the insured. I routinely call all of our policyholders for annual review appointments, usually near the anniversary date of your policy – the date it was originally issued. One of the matters that I’ll discuss during this review is the status of your beneficiary designations. If they need updating, and they often do, I can complete the paperwork during that appointment. I look forward to meeting with each of you. Call me at 847 259-4975, email robkofc@yahoo.com Your Company is now crediting 3.25% on new annuity premium deposits of $10,000 or more received in the Supreme Office between Oct. 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2009. This rate is guaranteed until Sept. 30, 2010. 3.00% Guaranteed!! Early surrender charges may apply.
RESPECT LIFE NEWS Dear Brother Knights, Thanks to all for your participation in the MH Drive. Although we may not think of it as such, the MH Drive is a Life event celebrating the unique graces that people with special needs have brought into our lives. Our commission as Knights is to defend life from conception to natural death, and all stations in between. The MH Drive continues to remind me of the sanctity of all human life. Lastly, please mark your calendars! On Sunday afternoon, 15 November 2009, at 3 pm, Joe Scheidler, the National Director of the Pro-Life Action League, will speak at our hall on the subject of Social Justice and the Catholic Church. Do not miss this op-portunity to hear the man whom Pat Buchanon described as, "the Green Beret of the Pro-Life movement." There's no Bears' game on the 15th, so let's jam the hall in support of Joe, a fellow 4th degree Knight, and the cause of life he so courageously defends!! We're expecting a good size crowd, so, please join us!! Details to follow. Vivat Jesus, Jim & Sue McPherrin Pro-Life Chaircouple GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE Brother Knights, I encourage you to look at the attached calendar and participate in one or more of the November events.
