Message from OUR GRAND KNIGHT

Brother Knights,

We are well on our way through Lent, working our way toward Holy Week. I hope that you are finding ways to increase your spirituality through helping to serve each other during this time, particularly with all of the turmoil in the economy and the world around us.

Speaking of Lent, I'd like to thank Ed and Joe Wendling for getting the Friday Fish Fry going, and all of the gentlemen who have stepped up to help out at the events. These are the kinds of get-togethers that make our Council a Community.

Mother Mary, May I Take 3 Giant Steps – Bible / Prayer / Catechism

Are you interested in increasing your spirituality and your knowledge of the Catholic faith? Come join us for Mother Mary, May I … which is held at the Knights’ Hall on the last Wednesday of every month at 7:15 p.m. In February, the focus shifted to the New Testament and the sacraments. We will hear noted Catholic bible scholar, Jeff Cavins, discuss the Gospel of St. Luke and the Acts of the Apostles and listen to Fr. John Corapi explain the sacraments based on their descriptions in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

On Wednesday, April 29, at 7:15 p.m., we will begin with the rosary and view the Jeff Cavins DVD on St. Luke chapters 19 – 24 (the Passion of Jesus), recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and view the Fr. Corapi DVD on “The Eucharist: Source and Summit.” This session will be repeated at the home of the Schoenwalds' on Saturday, May 2, at 9:45 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there.

Message from our Insurance Agent

The laws and rules of our Order, as well as state (provincial) laws, specify that the Knights of Columbus may accept insurance applications only from Knights of Columbus members. As a member, you may apply for insurance on yourself, your wife and your dependent, minor children.

The Order’s Board of Directors has taken action, though, to assure that a brother Knight’s widow maintains the right to purchase additional insurance for a limited time. This can be of great benefit and comfort to those we leave behind.

This “right to apply” is available only to the widows of insured members. If a member has not availed himself of our top-rated life insurance program, or purchased an annuity or long-term care policy, this benefit is not available to his widow.

But if the member was an insured member, his widow has the right to apply for additional insurance on her life and on the lives of the member’s minor children. This right can be exercised for up to one year following the Order’s receipt of proof of the insured’s death.

Know two things. First, I’ll assist your widow and children in any way possible if you should die, both with your Knights of Columbus insurance and any other life insurance you may have. Second, I’ll provide them my best professional advice and service, to assure that they continue to have adequate insurance protection.

As a professional agent and a brother Knight, I have no greater responsibility.
